Introduction of Islamic Science Institute (ISI)
The Islamic Science Institute (ISI) is a research centre at Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM) dedicated to advancing Islamic Science as an integrated, value-based and future-oriented field of knowledge. Grounded in a Tawhidic worldview, ISI promotes the meaningful integration of Naqli (revealed) and ‛Aqli (rational) knowledge for the universal good.
ISI serves as an intellectual platform for the University, enabling academic staff and students to explore new and emerging areas of inquiry that transcend disciplinary boundaries. Through research, teaching, postgraduate supervision and academic programmes, ISI facilitates cross-disciplinary and transdisciplinary engagement, encouraging collaboration across faculties in addressing complex societal, scientific and ethical challenges.
Committed to advancing critical and constructive scholarship, ISI actively engages scholars of Islamic thought alongside experts from diverse fields in sustained dialogue on knowledge, epistemology, integration and contemporary realities. Through seminars, research clusters, publications and collaborative networks, ISI contributes to the development of holistic, ethical and contextually grounded knowledge, strengthening Islamic intellectual traditions and opening pathways for innovation and renewal.
